Agency recognizes agents, benefits charities
Each year Ron Watson, broker of ERA Matt Fischer Realtor, presents a $1,000 check each to his top-selling agents for the Yuma office and the Foothills office to benefit a charity of their choice.

Paul Cunningham, the Yuma office agent of the year for 2006, donated his check to Sharon Chessum for Hospice of Yuma.

Patty Lesperance, Foothills office agent of the year for 2006, donated her check to Cathy Reeves, area coordinator for Yuma Special Olympics.

Both Cunningham and Lesperance have been the agency's top-selling agents for the past several years.

YTA event features top trainer
Internationally known speaker, teacher and trainer Nance Harris will present the next program for the Yuma Training Alliance.

The event will be held Tuesday at the Yuma Civic Center. Two half-day programs, Effective Time Management and Get Organized, will be offered back to back. The morning session will be 8 a.m. to noon and includes a continental breakfast. The afternoon schedule is 1 to 5 p.m. and includes light refreshments.

“In these powerful programs, you will learn universal principles of effective time management, personal productivity and organization,” said Kay Eldridge, city of Yuma training and development coordinator.

‘Good Morning Yuma!’
The monthly "Good Morning Yuma!" will begin at 6:30 a.m. Feb. 8 at the Ramada Inn-Chilton Conference Center, 300 E. 32nd St.

Southwest Gas is sponsoring the Yuma County Chamber of Commerce event.

Veterans' business seminar
A veterans' business resource seminar will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Arizona Western College Small Business Development Center, 1351 S. Redondo Center Drive, No. 101.

Topics will include services and programs offered by the Small Business Administration, business plans, online training and business incentives.

Imperial County to hold tax-defaulted online auction
Imperial County for the first time will conduct a tax auction over the Internet Feb. 17-21. The auction is being conducted by Bid4Assets, the leading online auction service provider for forfeited, surplus and tax-defaulted government property.

The county is offering 187 properties for sale. Interested participants can review the auctions at www.bid4assets.com/im perial.

Minimum bids start as low as $625, and no properties in the auction have a reserve price. A deposit of $2,500 (plus a $15 processing fee) is required to bid on the properties and should be submitted before Feb. 13 to allow for sufficient processing time. Additional instructions for submitting the deposit and bidding are on the Web site.

Professional sales class
A Selling Strategies for the Entrepreneur class will be offered at Arizona Western College beginning Feb. 26.

The class will meet two evenings a week for 7-1/2 weeks. It will cover all aspects of professional selling, including identifying prospects, developing a sales presentation, dealing with objections, closing the deal and gaining repeat sales. The content would be useful to anyone starting out in a sales profession or someone wanting to polish their sales skills.
