Celia Lara Arviso

In memory of Mrs. Celia Lara Arviso of Yuma, Arizona. She was born February 15, 1932 in Nochistian, Zacatecs, Mexico. She was 74 years old. She died Thursday, February 1, 2007 at her home.

Celia was employed by the St. Francis of Assisi Church working as Director of Apostolic Hispanic retiring in 1993. She was a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles, California in religious studies. She was an educator for Arizona Community College. Celia received the Instrument of Peace Award in 1987 from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was also was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where she was a minister and a member of the prayer group.

Celia is survived by her sister, Carmela Fresquez; and brother, Manuel Lara Frias, both are of San Francisco, California; sons and daughters, Ron and Victoria Arviso, of Yuma, Joey and Teresa Arviso, of Phoenix, Arizona, Barbara and Mike McCarthy, of Thatcher, Arizona, Margie Leyva and Bernadette Arviso and George Arviso, of Phoenix, Teresa Gray, of Reno, Nevada, Lourdes and Mark Chaidez and Pete and Carmen Arviso, of Yuma. Celia is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Arviso; and her parents, Braulio Lara and Placida Frias.

A wake will be at St. Francis Catholic Church on Thursday, February 8, 2007 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The mass will be at St. Francis Catholic Church on Friday, February 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. to be followed by a private cremation.

Pallbearers include Ron Arviso, Joey Arviso, Pete Arviso, Manuel Villa, Alejandro Vasquez, Joe Ramirez, and Rodolfo Ramirez.

Honorary pallbearers are Michael Arviso, Mario Arviso, David Lindsey, Andres Leyva, Christopher Arviso and Gabriel Arviso, Augustine Aranda, and Julio Ascencio.

Mary Maxine Harbour

Mary Maxine Harbour passed away on Friday, February 2, 2007. She was born on June 12, 1917 in Tulia, Texas. She moved to Yuma 22 years ago after the passing of her husband, Thomas Harbour, to be near her family. Maxine and Tom were married for 46 years.

Maxine was a school teacher, registered dietician, homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Maxine and Tom enjoyed retirement traveling between Northern Arizona and Tacna, Arizona. In Yuma she was a wonderful and dedicated friend, especially to those at Casa Sierra Vista Apartments, where she lived.

She is survived by her son, Ed (Linda) Harbour; granddaughter, Stefanie (Chris) Marchant and great-grandchildren, Clint, Daniel and Isabella; grandson, Jay (Jamie) Harbour and great-grandchildren, Gina Lynn and Kyle; her sister, Fran (Edmund) Barnett and nephews, Stan and Less Barnett, of New Mexico; niece, Louise Oliver; and nephews, Eddie, Tommy, Robin, Mike and Coy Evans, all of the Phoenix area.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Howard Evans and Mattie Hicks-Evans; and brother, Joe Evans.

A memorial service will be at the Church of Latter-day Saints on 8th Ave. on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at 4 p.m. Maxine’s final resting place will be Camp Verde, Arizona next to her husband.

Maxine was loved and respected by all who knew her and was best known for her kind ways and generosity. She will be greatly missed.

Octavio Meza III

Octavio Meza III, 27, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007. He was born July 27, 1979 in Yuma.

Octavio graduated from Yuma High School in 1998. He worked at the Yuma Regional Medical Center and attended Mission Our Lady of Guadalupe.

He loved spending time with his family and his girlfriend. Music was his passion. He spent his extra time playing with his music and working out. He was always working and helping others. His sense of humor put a smile on everyone's face. His faith in our Lord was so strong that he didn’t fear anything.

Octavio is survived by his father, Octavio Meza, Jr.; mother, Rosa Sevilla Meza, both of Yuma; sisters, Dalila, of Redondo Beach, California and Rosa D. Meza, of Yuma; brother, Andres Meza, of Yuma; grandmother, Lucila Sevilla, of Yuma; grandfather, Octavio Meza, Sr., of Yuma; grandmother, Concepcion Meza, of Yuma; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; he is also survived by his girlfriend, Lily Lizarraga, of Yuma.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Francisco Sevilla; and uncle, Armando Ortega.

A wake will be at Johnson Mortuary on Friday, February 9, 2007 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m.

A mass will be at Mission Our Lady of Guadalupe on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Father Thomas Munoz officiating.

Octavio’s final resting place will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Abraham Sevilla, Francisco Sevilla, Luis Sevilla, Oscar Sevilla, Hugo Meza, Enrique Meza, Jaime Meza, Luis Ortega, Manuel Rodriguez, Jose Castanos, and Jesus Sevilla.

Honorary pallbearers are Andres, Meza, Ricky Meza, Ernesto Encinas, Oscar Sevilla, Jr., Abraham Sevilla, Jr., Francisco Sevilla, Jr., Marcos Meza, Benjamin Montezuma, Salvador Insunza, Andy Muro, Tyler Foster, and Sergio Lopez.

Nancy Ann Mitchell

Nancy Ann Mitchell, 77, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2007 in Yuma. She was born on August 20, 1929 in Clarington, Texas.

Nancy graduated high school in 1947 and retired from 1st Interstate Bank as an operations manager.

Nancy is survived by her husband, James Arnold Mitchell; son, Mike (Jan) Mitchell; daughters, Debbie Nelson, Karen (Ed) Foster and Brenda (Butch) Parsons; brother, Billy (Betty) Noble; sister, Dorthy (Bud) Taylor; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all the family is of Yuma.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Mildred and IO Noble.

A private service and cremation will be on Saturday, February 10, 2007. A celebration of life will follow at Karen and Ed’s, 13199 S. 27th Ave., beginning at 1 p.m.
